Cake Poker Review: A+

Cake Poker is a great place to have fun playing online poker. Not everyone has heard of Cake Poker but traffic is excellent there, unless you like to play 24 tables at a time.

In fact, it is the perfect traffic for intermediate players who like to grind a profit without competing with the fiercest sharks. As these tough opponents prefer the poker sites with the most traffic and the most active high stakes games. Hence, the games are generally looser at cake poker.

Cakepoker is one of our favorite poker rooms and we are proud to offer you an exclusive 110% first time deposit bonus up to $600.

To get this bonus, use Sign Up Code MY600 when you register. This bonus is easily monetized. Opening your account also entitles you to join a new player freeroll.

Note that Cake Poker also has a unique loyalty program. The so-called gold cards system rewards players who sit frequently at the cash tables with special golden cards

These gold cards can be redeemed for gifts or cash, with a grand prize of 52,000 dollars for the player holding all 52 gold cards. Frequent player points called gold chips and regular freerolls complement this great reward program.

Cake Poker Software

Cake Poker's software is fast and enjoyable to use. From the lobby, it is easy to filter only the game types you want to check, for example Sit'n Go, Texas Hold'em and No Limit.

Each player can choose an avatar from a list of human models.

Tables are resizable and allow unlimited multi-tabling.

Useful alerts can be enabled to provide a popup window each time an interesting tournament is about to start.

Hand histories are quite unique and a good improvement over traditional purely text-based hand histories. At Cake Poker hand histories have a table-like format that enables fast hand reviewing at a glance.

The software works perfectly well and I never had a problem. If you need help, support is excellent but it is all handled through email, so you need some patience (usually they answer in the next 24 hours, 24/7).

Cake Poker Traffic

For a smaller room, Cake Poker has excellent traffic, and it is increasing. But there is minimal action at the high stakes games.

There are plenty of active no-limit holdem cash game tables all the way up to $2/$4, and the micro limits are very busy starting at $0.02/$0.4 blinds. At the time of writing which is 18:40PM EST, there are 8 full ring NL200 tables, 13 FR NL100 & 19 FR NL50; and 12 6-max NL200, 12 6m NL100 & 24 6m NL50. This is more than enough to make most players happy.

There is also good action in Fixed Limit Hold'em (around 30 tables) and in Pot Limit Omaha (around 25 tables). But for now other game variations such as Stud or HORSE are not played (the Stud tables are empty).

There are many "play money" tables and you can try them if you have never played "real money" online poker before or if you want to test the software. But it is strongly recommended to avoid such tables as they play differently from real money tables. It is much better to learn how to play at the micro limit games, and cakepoker has plenty of them.

If you like sit'n gos, there are tons of sit'n go tournaments running at all times. There are in all kinds of formats, such as heads up, 6-max, full ring or 30 players; some are satellites, turbo, super-turbo, double-up, bounty, kamikaze or regular ones. The buy-ins range mostly from $1.10 to $109. Most of the action is in NLHE, but you can find some PLO sit'n gos as well.

Cake Poker Multi Table Tournaments

A lot of the success of Cake Poker can be attributed to its good tournament selection. There are many tournaments all day long, with buy-ins mostly ranging between $1 and $100. As expected most of the tournaments are in No-Limit Texas Hold'em Poker, but they have also some Pot Limit Omaha tourneys as well.

On Sundays, Cake Poker runs the $162 buy-in $100k NLTH Guaranteed and the $109 buy-in $50k Guaranteed, plus the $268 buy-in $250k Guaranteed runs monthly.

Many other tourneys with lower guarantees happen during the weekend or the weekdays. For example there is a daily $20k guaranteed for a $109 buy-in and a daily $10k guaranteed for a $55 buy-in. The Saturday $15k guaranteed bounty also has a $55 buy-in.

Many lower buy-in tourneys can be played at any time. The daily $1.5 Rebuy Guaranteed has a low buy-in of just $3.3 for a field of around 230 players and a top payout about $500. This is the average field size at cake poker.

Cake Poker Competition

The games are overall soft at Cake Poker.

Cake is not a mainstream poker room. As they do not have any famous poker pro to represent them in live tournaments, they are not as widely known to the public as larger rooms such as PokerStars, which has dozens of pros including four former WSOP main event winners.

Cake Poker is still not very well known even by the regular poker players, as it only got good traffic quite recently. So it has not yet attracted an exodus of shark regulars and the competition that you will find there is milder than at larger rooms.

It is mostly used by casual players who want to have some fun. Even at NL200 you will find predictable players which are easy to beat. A few solid regulars play there and you need to be able to recognize them before attacking too furiously though.
